In the first two days you will be able to do very little, because you are still in the middle of this inflammatory response. Even a physiotherapist won’t be able to do much for you at this stage. What you can do yourself:

  1. Take some painkillers and/or anti inflammatory medication. This medication will make sure your body slows down the inflammatory response and dull the pain. This you will be able to get from a pharmacy without a prescription. This medication will help you moving around with a little more ease.
  2. Stay mobile, but try to do so in a relaxed manner avoiding strenuous movement. For example go for a stroll around the block.
  3. Avoid doing any strenuous tasks around the house or at work in the first few days, like heavy lifting or sitting or standing in the same position for long periods of time.
  4. If you have any questions or concerns then you can always contact a physiotherapist. They will be happy to explain to you what is happening to you and what you can do.
